Greenhouse organisation will help you to get the most out of your greenhouse, no matter its size. You can be more productive and enjoy your greenhouse growing. I only have a 6ft by 8ft greenhouse and I get huge harvests and grow all my seedlings for my entire garden in there throughout the year. I only have a small greenhouse so I really need to make the most of the space I have. To do this, I use a method of making specific zones in the greenhouse for the different activities I do, making sure that everything I need is close to hand or easily accessible. I also think about the seasons and what I need in spring, summer, autumn and winter to make my greenhouse both efficient and productive all year round. And I have some tricks and gadgets to help me do this. I'll also share some of my top tips for greenhouse storage solutions because when you have limited space, you need to get creative. ▶THE NEXT VIDEO TO WATCH◀ A useful playlist for new greenhouse owners or anyone wanting to revitalise their space: 🤍 ▶SUBSCRIBE◀ we hope you enjoyed this video - it would be extra lovely if you could also SHARE it around - LINK: 🤍 ▶SUPPORT THE CHANNEL◀ 🤍 ▶LINKS TO TOUR GARDENING TOOLS AND KIT ◀ Including details of our folding greenhouse staging, potting tray, seed storage and more. Ashley is an agronomist who has had a passion for plants since she was a small child. In the long summers as a child, she would garden alongside her grandmother and it was then that she realized her love for greenery. With years of great studying, Ashley had begun her post-secondary education at the University of Saskatchewan.  At first, her second love, animals, was the career path she chose but while doing her undergrad she realized that her education would take her elsewhere. And with that, four years later she graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a bachelor’s degree in science and a major in Soil Science.  Some of Ashley’s interests are YouTube, in which she posts informative videos about plants and gardening. The focus of Ashley’s YouTube channel is to bring science to gardening in a way that is informative but also helpful to others learning to garden. She also talks about the importance of having your own garden and the joys of gardening indoors. Ashley continues to study plants in her free time and hopes to expand her YouTube channel as well as her reach to up and coming gardeners.  #gardeningincanada #canadiangardener #soilscience

Deborah and Gabe transformed an empty backyard lawn into an abundant permaculture micro-farm where they're growing fresh fruits and vegetables for themselves, and for sale at their farm gate stand. To grow food year-round in a northern climate, they also have a geodesic dome greenhouse with an indoor pond that helps regulate the temperature in all 4 seasons. You can follow and find out more about The Ecobubble here: 🤍 🤍 The couple is using permaculture and hügelkultur methods to grow food in their backyard gardens and they don't use any pesticides or herbicides. They've planted a food forest with fruit and nut trees, and they've also planted fruit trees and native plant species to feed birds and pollinators like bees and butterflies. The 26’ geodesic growing dome is from Arctic Acres in Canada: 🤍 These domes are available from Growing Spaces in the United States: 🤍 With a 1/2 acre of land, some infrastructure, and a whole lot of hard work, Deborah and Gabe are already growing loads of fresh food for themselves, their neighbours, and the wildlife around them. We can't wait to see what they get up to this year on their future homestead! You can follow along on their journey in bringing The Ecobubble vision to reality here: 🤍 🤍 Special thank you to Laurie from Right Arm Builds (Lauriebakker🤍rightarmbuilds.com) for being a growing dome ninja super star on filming day! Using a polyhouse for growing produce year-round | Garden Inspiration | Gardening Australia

Sophie shows you a low-cost alternative for growing produce all year round. Subscribe 🔔 🤍 Who needs a commercial greenhouse with thermostatically controlled heating and cooling. Instead, Sophie has created something that has proved effective in protecting crops from temperature extremes. Her polyhouse is “working wonders” allowing her to grow all sorts of produce regardless of the weather conditions. Sophie can grow warm season crops like tomatoes throughout a frosty Adelaide winter, and subtropical plants like ginger and galangal throughout the year. Here are some tips for creating a polyhouse without the additional energy requirements. It’s all about controlling the temperature and providing protection from the elements all year round. - Sophie’s greenhouse has a plastic roof with glass windows on the east, north and west facing sides. - Windows or doors that can be opened to help regulate temperature and increase airflow and help reduce fungal diseases such as powdery mildew. - The ceiling is lined with thermal fabric that acts like a blanket to keep the warmth inside. - If frost is predicted Sophie leaves the thermal fabric open during the day to allow as much warmth in as possible, then she pulls across the fabric at night to keep the warmth in and protect the plants from the damaging effects of the frost. - The thermal fabric an also be used in summer to reflect the sun’s rays to shade the plants. - If your polyhouse is in a colder climate such as Tasmania, Sophie recommends incorporating some thermal mass such as brick raised beds or paving to help trap the heat and radiate it out for longer. - In her Adelaide Hills set up Sophie has low gabion walls around the perimeter shaded by vertically growing vegetables in the warmer months to stop them heating up. Those veggies also stop the sun from hitting the glass. - Size doesn’t matter, you can try this at home on a smaller scale than Sophies. _ Gardening Australia is an ABC TV program providing gardening know-how and inspiration. We helped Josh's wife make a DIY Greenhouse with help from Lowe's. It was a fun & challenging build, but Lowe’s is the perfect partner to help you finish your fall projects and get back to enjoying what matters. Look below for everything we used in this project! TOOLS & SUPPLIES (affiliate links): Sunlite Polycarbonate Sheets: 🤍 Brown Engineered Panel Siding: 🤍 Tuftex 6mm H Channel: 🤍 National Hardware Spring Hinges: 🤍 Kreg Accu-Cut: 🤍 30 Seconds Outdoor Cleaner: 🤍 Bostitch Framing Nailer: 🤍 DeWalt 20-volt Circular Saw: 🤍 DeWalt 20-volt Jigsaw: 🤍 DeWalt Drill & Driver Combo: 🤍 DeWalt Miter Saw: 🤍 Union Washer Wood Screws: 🤍 Keter Shelving Unit: 🤍 Accord Ventilation Register: 🤍 AcuRite Digital Thermometer: 🤍 🤍 🤍 MUSIC: 🤍 Josh's wife is really into gardening and planting beautiful greenery leading to her desire for a greenhouse. This way, she can keep her plants alive during the winter months and incubate some new plants so they're ready for the spring. Josh began the design with a 3d model in Fusion 360. We got our bill of materials and the cut list then headed to our local Lowe's to get the supplies to begin framing the structure. I chose to use pressure treated lumber for this exterior addition to resist the moisture and humidity that may build up inside the greenhouse. Using Josh's measurements, we nailed together the floor and added the front and back wall studs. Before adding a structure to your yard, you may chose to grate and level the area beforehand. Josh didn't want to tear up the yard, and here in Kentucky, the clay is super hard. In lieu of digging into the ground to level it, we chose to level the floor frame by adding 2x4 posts semi-driven into the ground. This way, Josh and i could level the floor and nail it to those posts along the span of the greenhouse. Now that we had a level surface to work from, we continued to build out the frame by connecting the front and back studs and then connecting those two walls with some ceiling joists. For the greenhouse floor, Josh wanted something that could resist any standing water that would fall down from the plants. We found some engineered siding panels at Lowe's that are weather-resistant and come in large, 4' x 8' sheets. These panels are only 3/8" thick, so we added another layer of pressure treated 1/2" plywood to ensure the floor was strong enough to walk on. We fit three of these double-layered panels on top of the floor frame, making sure to cut around the wall studs and secured them with screws. For the greenhouse's exterior, it is possible to simply cover the bare frame with the clear polycarbonate sheets, but because of this greenhouse's size, that would take more than the 10 panels we allotted for this project. We had to order the sheets from Lowes.com and the came in a pack of 10. So rather than sacrificing the size of the greenhouse, Josh got creative and added a decorative element to the outside that helped use less polycarbonate. We decided to use the cutoffs of the engineered, exterior sheeting to make a skirting of wood panels that wrapped around the greenhouse. To cover any seams and to give the element some definition, Josh cut up some 1x4 trim pieces that really set the decorative element apart. It looked really nice and flowed super well with the overall design. Again, these step is optional, but it does look fantastic and it helps save on the more expensive material later. At this point in the project, we have a nice looking frame of a greenhouse. To make it functional as a greenhouse, we need a way to trap the radiant heat from the sun inside the structure. We found many ways to do this from using reclaimed windows, rolls of plastic tarp pulled tight, glass panes, and sheets of acrylic. After sowing tomato seeds, pricking the seedlings out, and growing the plants on, it's now time to plant in the greenhouse. In cooler climates, or places that suffer Blight, it's better to grow tomatoes under cover. In this video I share my tips on growing tomatoes in the greenhouse including how to plant them, training them to grow up a string, and how I use clay pots, called Ollas, as self-waterers. Along with growing my tomatoes in a long planter using organic compost and composted manure, I'm also growing two in a conventional grow-bag. Over the summer we'll be comparing how the tomato plants do and any differences between the two growing mediums. Questions for you: 1. Are you growing tomatoes this year? If so, what's your set-up like? 2. Have you ever tried using an Olla before? See the other videos in the tomato growing series: 🤍 Interested in how I make videos? #greenhousegardening #diygreenhouse #howtobuildagreenhouse ANOTHER GREENHOUSE?!?!?! It's done, it's FINALLY DONE... Come hang out with us as we build an adorable 8X10 back yard greenhouse from scratch! And YOU can build one too! This is our 2nd greenhouse build as most of you know...I was SO sad when we sold the farmhouse and I had to let go of my wonderful greenhouse that Joe built me after only using it ONE spring! But...a little bit of persuasion aka begging and some puppy dog eyes & I was finally able to convince Joe to build me another one! YES! *WE DO NOT HAVE PLANS for this build* I gave Joe the dimensions I wanted & he built to those specs! This video is the only instruction we have to offer. We're happy to answer questions though! Gardening in the greenhouse is awesome! The plants THRIVE in the warm temperature & the greenhouse protects the plants from pests AND the outside elements like storms that can bring torrential down pours and terrorizing winds...which can be detrimental to your growing crops! This greenhouse is probably 1/2 the size of the farm greenhouse BUT it will give us a lot of growing space regardless & most importantly, it'll give me somewhere to spend my time in the cold winter months to still be creative in the garden & continue providing goodies for our bellies! This greenhouse took us about 2-1/2 wks to build...I actually couldn't believe how fast we did it but that's just how we roll! We spent roughly $2500 to build this beauty. A lot of things I got super cheap on Offer Up like the door for $10, the antique ladder was cheap (can't remember exactly how much I paid because I got it years ago!) and the pink vintage sink I snagged for ONLY $25! Yeah baby! I hope you enjoy this video, Joe & I worked really hard and we were excited to share it with you!
