"Opium", taken from KARIN PARK's upcoming album "Private Collection". Out October 7 via Pelagic Records. Buy / Download / Stream here: 🤍 Filmed by Jolina Elish at Hildas Holm Produced by Djura Missionshus // 'Private Collection' is KARIN PARK at her purest, rawest and most beautiful essence: an album stripped down to the core of her mesmerizing voice and the haunting sound of the pump organ. An introvert and intimate album that shows her not just as a stellar musician but as a mother, a wife and a humble human being. Karin Park has been referred to as the Scandinavian Nico for her persona, and dark ambient legend Lustmord called her a “force of nature”. However, despite a Eurovision song contest entry, a year of sold out shows as the lead in Les Miserables in Oslo and performances alongside Lana Del Rey and David Bowie, Karin's talents have still remained somewhat under-exposed for the really broad public. This might change now, with a stunning new album and an extensive European tour with A.A. Williams this fall. “This record is very much a journey in solitude that I’ve been longing to make,” Karin tells us about her seventh studio album. Consisting of nine re-recordings – with radically diferent instrumentation – of classic tracks from her impressive back catalogue, as well as the newly written opener «Traces of Me», Private Collection is the quintessential expression of Karin Park’s artistry. “These are my favourite songs from 20 years of writing, re-recorded as I hear them now. Many of these versions are how I play them live, alone with my synths, mellotron and organ.” Joining her on some tracks are her husband Kjetil Nernes (Årabrot) on guitars and Andrew Liles (Nurse With Wound) on synths, as well as Benedetta Simeone on cello. Otherwise, Private Collection is indeed a very private affair. The recordings of Private Collection go all the way back to Karin Park’s early childhood in rural Sweden, growing up in a Christian family and going to church in the Swedish woods. A few years ago she acquired that same old church building and turned it into a studio for herself and the rock band Årabrot that she plays in together with her husband. The tracks on Private Collection seem to utilise the full acoustic potential of the church’s room, the emptiness under the ceiling seemingly tangible through reverberation that runs rife. Slowing down the tempo of her songs and adding an extra measure here and there for breath, building from the humble pump organ to a majestic wall of sound, Karin Park flls the void of her childhood with the sounds she is most comfortable with today. On Private Collection, Karin Park marries the past with the present. Her idiosyncratic and charismatic mezzo-soprano voice has often been compared to iconic female voices such as those of Kate Bush or Björk, but it is with these familiar timbres that she portrays a world that is truly unique to her. Dark, alien and brooding, but nevertheless oozing with familiarity and coziness. “That’s why I had to go all the way to California,” she sings on «Glasshouse» and before you know it, you'll fnd yourself singing along, convinced that somewhere in your own past you travelled to the Sunshine State. Somewhere in that line, and in many others, lies an inexplicable persuasive power that convinces us to believe that her world is also our own world. “I say the magic word, ’till you’re beside me,” she sings on «Bending Albert’s Law», capturing an everyday magic of domestic darkness. Private Collection reveals the humanity behind the force of nature called Karin Park, and in that cavernous church, the sound of her presence foats under the high ceiling, but at the same time she is next to you, near. Her breath in your ear, her silence in your heart.

"Glasshouse", taken from Karin Park's album "Church of Imagination". Out December 10 via Pelagic Records. Pre-order vinyl, CD & merch here: 🤍 Captured at Festspillene i Bergen on June 6, 2021. // "Karin is different. A different kind of sexy, a different kind of magic, a different kind of joy. She is a nightmare, that cannot be defined nor harnessed, a free will as much as a force of nature. A distant star, burning brighter. There is only one Karin Park, and this is only the beginning." - B. Lustmord. KARIN PARK's 5th full length studio album Church of Imagination is an exploratory musical journey through the territories of magic, religion and the power of imagination. Recorded and produced by herself with co- producers Nick Sheldon (Blackhill) and her husband Kjetil Nernes (Årabrot), Church of Imagination is a seamless continuation of her idiosycratic Apocalypse Pop sound that she defined with her previous album title. Karin has been referred to as the Scandinavian Nico for her persona, but her talents are considerably more. Having performed with such icons as Lana Del Rey and David Bowie among others, she expresses herself not only through music but also through fashion and perfumery as forms of art, taking inspiration from such designers as Gareth Pugh, Rick Owens and Son Venin. But to get a real sense of who Karin Park is you must know the place she comes from. A chubby child from a christian family, growing up in a small Swedish village and years spent in a Missionary school in Japan made her desperate to break away from narrow thinking – and she used her only advantages to do so; her unique voice and personality. By the age of 15 she had moved away from home to find her place in music. After studying at Stockholm Music Conservatory, a Norwegian poet took her to Norway where she started her pop career. This was followed by a move to London to write songs, and working as a model for high-profile brands such as Swarovski, Haizhen Wang and DKNY. But Karin's heart heart always belonged to music. After five albums, a few Norwegian Grammy’s, a Eurovision entry for Norway and several hits written for other artists, Karin returned to the village of her youth and bought the church where she first sang in front of an audience as a child. She turned the church into a combined studio and home with her husband Kjetil Nernes, front man of the Norwegian rock band Årabrot. And it is here that Imagination now holds sway. ”I got heavily into synths, hugely inspired by Fad Gadget and a lot of the other Daniel Miller signings for Mute in the early 80s. But there wasn’t a female community of musicians in that scene that I could really look to as an example, so it took a while to find my feet“, says Karin. „I love pop music but I always need to dig deeper, evolve and find new territory. I easily move from Throbbing Gristle to Beyonce and back again.” After a year of sold-out performances at the 1.400 capacity Folketeatere in Oslo as the lead in Les Misérables, touring the world with Årabrot, and becoming a parent; Karin Park released Church Of Imagination, her first new album in five year, in early 2020. We are now reissuing it on vinyl as an introduction to Karin's dark and beautiful cosmos for the Pelagic crowd, and we promise that the wait for a brand new Karin Park album to follow won't be long: as of September 2021, the prolific Karin has already finished the recordings of the sequel to Church Of Imagination, to be released some time in 2022. Like Karin, Church Of Imagination is a playful affair. We sense the influence of Scott Walker, Massive Attack and Nico, it is Karin’s using different elements to tell her stories. What defines Karin the most is her ability to touch people with who she is and what she stands for. And her imagination.

"Hiraeth", taken from Lustmord & Karin Park's new album "ALTER". Out June 25 via Pelagic Records. Stream / Download / Pre-order here: 🤍 Video by Lustmord // Nordic pop diva KARIN PARK of ÅRABROT adds her ethereal, mournful voice and keys to the primordial sound of legendary electronic pioneer LUSTMORD for this sublime and poignant collaboration. ALTER is a ritual of our times. On the pair's frst collaborative work, the nine tracks that make up ALTER are every bit as heart-wrenching as they are terrifying, mining new sonic territory, it is a fascinating study of light and shade that delves deep into vast uncharted darkness. Their ability to create atmosphere on the album opener "Hiraeth" is second to none, perfectly assembling a harrowing backdrop for Park's lilting sound of longing. From there, Park's vocals add all of the emotional depth and power found in names like Kate Bush, Maynard J Keenan and Elizabeth Frasier, perfectly playing against Lustmord's waves of dark drama and creating a wholly unique record that recalls Dead Can Dance, Massive Attack and Portishead at their greatest. Considering Park’s credentials, it might be surprising that a collaboration with Lustmord would ft so seamlessly. Utilizing a sound comprised of elements of industrial, synth pop and more, the celebrated Swedish solo artist and member of Norwegian rock band Årabrot utilizes experimentation in her work, blazing trails and bringing to mind the work of her peers The Knife, Scott Walker, Robyn, Depeche Mode and Burial with her darkly-rich compositions. Multiple winner of Norway’s Spellemann award, Park co-wrote the Norwegian entry for the 2013 Eurovision, fnishing fourth overall. But it is the sensibility of the sacred music of her youth that Park adds to ALTER, contributing a powerful vocal that guides the listener through the cavernous, mystical depth of their collaborative work. ”Lustmord is the Gustave Doré of music", Karin Park ofers pensively. "Painting magical pictures with a sound that is so vast, it gives space for your own imagination.” Brian Williams grew up in North Wales, beginning his musical career as Lustmord in 1980 and becoming a pivotal fgure and pioneer in the early industrial music scene in the UK. A former member of SPK during arguably their most crucial era, Williams went on to work with Throbbing Gristle members Chris & Cosey and appeared on early albums by Current 93 and Nurse With Wound amongst others. After relocating to Los Angeles in 1993, Williams worked on dozens of motion picture soundtracks including The Crow, Underworld and Paul Schrader’s First Reformed, as well as on several video game, television scores and solo albums. Williams has also contributed to and collaborated with artists as varied as the Melvins, Clock DVA, Jarboe, John Balance of Coil, Clock DVA, Paul Haslinger (Tangerine Dream), Wes Borland (Limp Bizkit), Puscifer and more, including Grammy Award-winners Tool from their much acclaimed eforts 10,000 Days and Fear Inoculum.

Shape Of A Child was written by Karin Park’s husband Kjetil Nernes in response to Karin sharing the story of a vision she had of the daughter they would have together. The song features the Swedish/American singer LaGaylia Frazier on additional vocals, and the local village choir, which included Karin’s mother, father and other relatives. Karin’s father, Lars-Olof Park also plays Hammond organ on the track, and he died of cancer three months later on May 1st 2019. The song was recorded in Karin’s studio, with Lydia, the daughter in question present, making it a real family affair. Coproduced by Karin Park, Kjetil Nernes and Nick Sheldon Shape Of A Child is the second track on Karin Park’s new album “Church Of Imagination” released on her own label Djura Missionshus on Feb 21st, distributed by AISA distro The video for Shape Of A Child is a personal journey put together by Karin, showing her surroundings and life behind the scenes during the making the album. Follow Karin Park through her setup used for recording "Norwegian Gothic", out now via Pelagic Records. Stream / Download / Order here: 🤍 // ÅRABROTS's 9th full-length album Norwegian Gothic sees the band collaborate with Lars Horntveth (Jaga Jazzist), cellist Jo Quail, Tomas Järmyr (Motorpsycho), Anders Møller (Turbonegro, Ulver) and Massimo Pupillo (Zu). A stellar production by Jaime Gomez Arellano (Black Eyed Peas, Paradise Lost, Hexvessel, Oranssi Pazusu) makes this the quintessential ÅRABROT record, as guitarist and vocalist Kjetil Nernes confirms: "Norwegian Gothic is the culmination of everything Årabrot has done musically the past 10 years. It is not only the climax of the band so far, but also a good indication of what to come. It is basically an amalgamation of all of our influences here in the church where we live. Musically it is inspired by all the albums of our record collection and thematically by the books we have in our shelves. More specifically it is our special brand of rock'n'roll music mixed with fin-de-siecle decadence, surrealism and even a pinch of old German philosophy to boot." While the 20 years history of the band is a story of change and correlation, it would be too simple to break this creative duality down to the stereotypical dichotomy of the yin and the yang... and if one attempted to do so, it would turn out to be quite difficult to determine which of these forces would be represented by which individual. A chubby child from a christian family, growing up in a small Swedish village and years spent in a Missionary school in Japan made Karin desperate to break away from narrow thinking. And she used her only advantages to do so; her unique voice and personality. By the age 15 she had moved away from home to find her place in music. After studying at Stockholm Music Conservatory, a Norwegian poet took her to Norway where she started her pop career, this was followed by a move to London to write songs, and working as a model. After five albums, a few Grammys, writing a Eurovision entry for Norway and hits for other artists and performances with Lana Del Rey and David Bowie, Karin returned to the village of her youth and bought the church where she first sang in front of an audience as a child. The church is where they rehearse and record, surrounded by pianos, organs and hundreds of old bibles that the church left behind when the congregation stopped. The clerical environment has proven to be an excellent creative tapestry for a band whose lyrical focus orbits around sex, death and defiance. Kjetil Nernes was diagnosed with malignant throat cancer in 2014, in the middle of a tour. Instead of heading in for surgery right away, the band finished a full European tour first, "Every night of that tour was like the last show ever“, Nernes comments, "It was really strange. When a doctor calls and says, 'you're terribly sick', it's surreal. You go into this phase where life is more vivid and more real, in a weird way. We've done so many shows through the years and sometimes it’s a little like going to the factory to do a job. But with an axe hanging over your head you perceive the world differently.“ But the axe did not fall, and after successfully recovering from cancer, ÅRABROT are now stronger than ever. The band has collaborated with procuders like Billy Anderson and Steve Albini, and musicians like Ted Parsons (Killing Joke/Swans), Sunn O))))'s Stephen O’Malley, and Kvelertak's Erlend Hjelvik. They have composed music for silent movies like “Die Niebelungen” and “Doctor Caligari”, and have teamed up with The Quietus founder John Doran on his spoken word tour. Their album “The Gospel” was named “Album of the Year” by The Quietus.

"Twin Flames", taken from Lustmord & Karin Park's new album "ALTER". Out now via Pelagic Records. Stream / Download / Order here: 🤍 Video by Lustmord // Nordic pop diva KARIN PARK of ÅRABROT adds her ethereal, mournful voice and keys to the primordial sound of legendary electronic pioneer LUSTMORD for this sublime and poignant collaboration.

GIVE The song Give was inspired by the love story of Karin’s Syrian friends and their long journey escaping the war. The longing to be together and fight for a decent life gave birth to this song that is an intimate vision of the future as many of the other songs on the album ”Church Of Imagination”. The song was written with Liam Westbrook and Robin Stout better know as ”Superhuman”, and was recorded in Karin’s church with a choir including her father Lars-Olof Park who past away last year, and her mother Maria Park, among others. Co-produced by Nick Sheldon and Kjetil Nernes Give (Lustmord Remix) Remixed by Brian Williams Give (live solo version) Recorded by Johan Klarberg and Karin Park at Djura Missionshus. Karin Park is a Swedish-born artist who lives in Djura, Sweden and London, England. It's not like poetry It's not a pirouette, it's not a symphony or a melody It's nothing like the stars It's not like city lights It's nothing like a dream It's just me But when we touch When you come this close Eye to eye Sailing on each other's sea Do you feel the tension Do you feel the tension Dangerous and pure Real and nothing more Do you feel the tension The tension I know the rules made up and I know all about the things that we decide to tame the wild I know the history about the kings and queens of love and tragedy But this is me It's not magic There's no mystery Nothing sacred Just a shiver in my body Do you feel the tension Do you feel the tension Dangerous and pure Real and nothing more Do you feel the tension The tension

There are certain records in the history of Axtone that have a quick path to release...others that take on a slightly longer journey. It's fair to say 'Tokyo By Night' sits firmly in the latter category, achieving cult status amongst Axtone fans worldwide. Years in the making, the wait has been well worth it; with Axwell's remix leading the charge, proving once again that everyone else is simply following. Having taken on various incarnations in the production stage, one element remained a constant: the beguiling song, written by Hook N Sling and Karin Park. In Hook N Sling (a.k.a. Anthony Maniscalco ... yes, it's one person!), Axtone welcome an act poised for big things in 2014, with this his first original release on the label after remixing Hard Rock Sofa's underground trailblazer 'Blow Up' back in 2011. Now LA based, Hook is perhaps best known for the singles, 'Take You Higher' with Goodwill, and 'Reason' with NERVO. His recent incendiary collaboration with Empire of the Sun, 'Celebrate', and remixes for Kaskade, Krewella and The Presets have exemplified his own brand of music with dance floor precision, artistic substance and mass appeal. With Karin, an artist who is certainly ploughing her own path in electronic music with her album 'Highwire Poetry' due for release later this year, they have together crafted a timeless dance floor gem. With the Original Version still to come, the Axwell Remix is released 28th April, and iTunes, Spotify and all DSPs 12th May.
